American Football is a rough sport. This is a game which demands a strong body and certain skills. Players have to be fast and trained very well in every aspect of the game. In American football you can see a lot of injuries, which is basically normal since the players are colliding at each other at full speed, unfortunately, some of injuries turned out to be fatal. But, since the equipment was getting more and more protective, all injuries are now at minimum rate. Also, specific trainings of neck muscle straightening helped a lot and knowing the field might sometimes be crucial for victory.

American football is played on a field which is 100 yards long. The longer boundary lines are called sidelines, while the shorter boundary lines are called end lines. They are out of bounds. At the very end of the field is a goal line. Then comes an end zone which is basically a scoring area is 10 yards beyond each goal line to each end line (red section with diagonal lines). Spot where the end zone meets the playing field is called the goal line.

There are short lines also, called hash marks, they mark each interval of one yard, these sidelines are near the middle of the field. At 50-yard line is the center of the football field-midfield. At the back of each end zone are two goalposts, connected by a crossbar 10 feet from the ground. For high skill levels, the posts are 18 feet 6 inches apart. For lower skill levels, these are widened to 23 feet 4 inches.

Usually when looking at the field it would seem that it’s totally flat, but that is not true. The middle of field is slightly higher from the rest of the football field. This is done for a specific reason. Since the American football field is built outside, on a rainy day, it helps if water drains away from the field or else players would find themselves in a pile of mud pretty fast or the game would have to be canceled. This way, if the football field is well built it has to have the middle higher than the sides.

When you mention word football in America, everyone will know that you are talking about their number one sport, and if you do the same in Europe, people will have all other sport in mind-soccer. But, this is changing rapidly since the American football is finding its way to Europe and becomes one of the favorite sports on both continents.
